Purpose
- We use candidate endorsements to identify and support transformational leaders from the local to the state level.
- We believe that Oregon needs a Future Transportation Caucus if we’re serious about tackling the intertwined challenges of climate crisis, housing affordability, and inequality in our transportation system.
- Our endorsements are valuable and earned, reserved for champions of our mission who are committed to achieving transportation safety, accessibility, racial equity, and climate justice in the Portland Metro region and beyond.
Process
- The Street Trust Action Fund identifies races and candidates for consideration based on our electoral priorities, the offices being contested, and our capacity to conduct the endorsement process.
- Candidates in races we choose to consider are invited to participate in our endorsement process. Candidates may also contact us directly to request consideration. Candidates seeking an endorsement are asked to attend The Street Trust’s Candidate Transportation School and complete our Candidate Questionnaire.
- General election candidate questionnaires are evaluated with names redacted by a five-person committee according to an established rubric. Endorsements are ultimately made by The Street Trust Action Fund based on the candidate’s alignment with our mission and transportation priorities, as well as the results of our candidate evaluation process.
- An endorsement list is not intended to be a comprehensive list of every candidate who may share our values. Candidates may not appear on our list because we did not consider their race, they did not participate in our endorsement process, or they did not seek an endorsement. We encourage voters to learn more about all candidates and make their own informed decisions.
