Women Bike

Women Bike is The Street Trust’s program to inspire more women to incorporate a bike in their lives and utilize biking to meet their personal health, fitness, and transportation needs. In the Portland Metro region women account for only a third of bike riders. We’re here to change that.

Women Bike is open to all women, female identifying, and gender nonconforming people who enjoy biking (or think they might). We aim to decrease the barriers to riding a bike through coffee meetups, happy hours, monthly rides and workshops, and mentorship. Check out our event calendar for upcoming Women Bike events.

More About Women Bike

Who is the group for?
This group is for all women, female identifying, trans, and gender non-conforming individuals who have an interest in bicycling, or think that they might.

Do I need to be an experienced rider to join?
No. The purpose of this group and our events is to increase access to bicycling. Persons interested in bicycling, regardless of skill level, are encouraged to join. We hope the group will have a variety of riders, and will be a place for more experienced riders to share with new riders.

  • Monthly Workshops and Clinics: educational sessions to learn more about laws, riding practices, bike skills, and areas of interest. Workshops are typically off bike, but could be incorporated with a ride when appropriate.
  • Monthly Rides: all rides are recreationally paced to include riders of all skill levels. We aim to attend a variety of activities and events by bike.
  • Social Meetups: Join us at our Coffee Clubs and Happy Hours and meet other biking gals in your neighborhood. Our social meetups are a place where women come together, share biking experiences, and get to know one another. All are welcome to stay for as long or little as you like.Non-commuters are always welcome. For locations please check out BTA’s event calendar orWomen Bike Facebook page.

Roll Models

Roll Models are women who have a love of biking that they want to share with other women in their lives. They need not be experts, road warriors, everyday commuters, or elite athletes (though some of them might be), they need only have a passion for biking and want to share the gift of biking with other women. Roll models provide mentorship and peer support to the interested but concerned women in their community.
