Oregon’s transportation system faces urgent challenges. The transportation sector is the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions in Oregon. For most households, the cost of owning and operating a car is their largest household expense after housing.

The 2019 Alice Awards

More than 300 supporters celebrated The Street Trust and the movement for active transportation at a sold-out Alice Awards last month. The event raised nearly $100,000 for The Street Trust’s programs to make walking, biking, and transit safe and convenient.

Safe Routes to School tops regional program ideas

As bike safety educators, The Street Trust sees first hand the conditions that prevent kids from walking and rolling to school. Huge unsignalized road crossings with fast-moving cars, incomplete sidewalks, and no bike facilities are common.

The 2019 bike safety education season is underway at schools in Portland. We need your help to support kids to have a fun, safe community ride to cap their bike safety experience.
