The Street Trust Board of Directors voted to endorse a regional measure that will improve access to natural spaces in the Portland metro region. Measure 23-206 will be on the ballot in November 2019.
If passed, the bond would be used to purchase land, restore fish and wildlife habitat and complete trails through Metro’s parks and nature system. Trails for hiking and biking will receive $40 million and specific projects that will be funded include many that will help people access not only nature but jobs and neighborhoods. The Street Trust favorites include the North Portland Greenway, the Westside Trail and the Interstate I-205 gap on the Marine Drive Trail. This bond measure would renew an existing property tax.
