We distributed “Free My Bus” signs and Advocacy Director Richa Poudyal urged the Council to take action to make bus travel times quicker to improve the experience of bus riders and attract new riders.
Thousands of bus riders are enjoying shorter travel times resulting from the first few red, bus-only treatments in downtown Portland. The Street Trust championed these treatments along with protected bikeways as part of the Central City in Motion Plan. The Street Trust also supported city and regional plans for Enhanced Transit Corridors.
The Street Trust is part of a working group comprised of community-based organizations convened by Commissioner Eudaly to advise the Rose Lane initiative. Eudaly expects the Rose Lanes will reduce TriMet’s operating costs and wants those savings invested in community priorities like free transit for youth.
PBOT is floating Rose Lane priorities in open houses and an online poll.
