GTT’s testimony flatly rejected the notion that adding road capacity will reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Some Task Force members, government officials, and interest groups continue to advocate for projects such as the Sunrise Highway in Clackamas County, a new connector road on SE 181st, and widening near Airport Way to increase vehicle capacity.
The Street Trust and GTT are meeting with Metro Councilors in advance of a January 13, 20202 Council hearing on the transportation measure. We’ll be organizing public testimony and support for a climate-forward measure that will deliver safe, convenient and affordable alternatives to driving alone.
