The Bike More Challenge is back and better than ever!

It’s the wonderful time of the year: the Bike More Challenge starts today!

The Bike More Challenge is a fun, free competition to encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to experience first hand joys and benefits of riding a bike. There are lots of fantastic prizes to motivate your team and an incredible e-bike raffle — just in case you needed another reason to #BikeMore. During the course of the Bike More Challenge, Oregonians on bikes ride thousands of miles, meaning fewer cars on the road and cleaner air for everyone.

How it works

Participants get together in teams, usually with friends or coworkers, in which they compete to see who can get the most people to ride a bike and log their trips during the month of May. We use a simple points model to allow teams to compete with each other across their size category (see the points system below). The points system has been carefully selected to ensure a fair and exciting competition and to strongly encourage workplaces to engage new riders if they want to climb the leaderboard and secure victory.

It’s not just about who can ride the most miles, but also about who can encourage the most people to give bicycling a try. The more trips you take, and the more miles you log, the more points you’ll earn, and the likelier you’ll be to win some special individual prizes. But here’s the thing: the fastest way to earn more points is to encourage more people to get on a bike and ride!

Are you ready? Here are 3 easy steps to Bike More Challenge Victory:

1. Register – If you participated last year, you do not need to register again. Simply login and verify that you’d like to participate in the 2018 Challenge. If you did not participate last year, you will need to register. Need help? Check out the handy Website FAQs here. Don’t have a traditional workplace? Don’t worry! We’ve set up some great teams that you can join. (Freelancers / Self Employed | Stay at Home Parents | Retirees)

2. Log – This year, we are again partnering with Ride Report, a free tool to log all your Bike More Challenge trips automatically. There’s no need to enter your trip or tap a record button – Ride Report automatically senses your ride so you can focus on racking up your miles and winning prizes! It takes less than a minute to install Ride Report and you can register for the Challenge right inside the app. After that, just hop on your bike! Download the free app or visit the Ride Report website for more information.

3. Win – Pedal anywhere, anytime during May, log your trips, and earn points! You also get bonus points for encouraging others to ride. Logging trips means you’ll unlock freebies and discounts. Join us anytime in the month for a commute clinic, party, or a good old fashioned bike ride. Check out the Bike More Challenge calendar for an event in your area.

Get ready to party!

At the end of the Challenge, we throw an Awards Party to celebrate Bike More Challengers and their pedaling achievements. Stay tuned for more info, but for now…save the date! We’ll party on Wednesday, June 6 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at WeWork Custom House (220 NW 8th Avenue, Portland, OR).
