The For Every Kid Coalition is focusing on the 2017 legislative session and the fight for dedicated funding for Safe Routes to School (SRTS) education programs and street improvements near schools.
Get involved and help improve our streets for our kids! Here are four things you should know:
#1 Send a post card for Safe Routes to School! How many can you pledge? Have you ever seen the movie “Miracle on 34th Street”? Do you remember that scene where they bring bags and bags of letters into a courtroom to prove a point? That’s what we are aiming for with our postcards for Safe Routes to School! Please help us fill bags with post cards sharing why Oregonians want Safe Routes to School. We plan on delivering them at a critical moment to the people who need to read them most. How many of your friends, colleagues, and neighbors support Safe Routes to School? 10? 20? 50? Please help make it safe For Every Kid to walk, bike, and take transit to school by making a post card pledge today!
#2 Five Safe Routes to School Town Hall Meetings Coming Soon! These town hall meetings will take place in Astoria, Klamath Falls, Redmond, Salem/Keizer, Eugene, and Portland and will include public testimony trainings, local Safe Routes to School updates, pep talks from local leaders. Join us and learn how you can help show support for Safe Routes to School. We’ll also be providing childcare and snacks! Eugene Town Hall Meeting for Safe Routes to School is on Tuesday, December 6th. For Every Kid is hosting youth, families, elders, and partners at our first Safe Routes to School Town Hall Meeting at Roosevelt Middle School. Join the Facebook event here and RSVP here!
