Where Do You Want to Ride in Hillsboro? Open House Feb. 25

Your Hillsboro commute could look like this!

Your Hillsboro commute could look like this!

Hillsboro is in the midst of a year-long process to create a Trail System Master Plan and study future alignments and expansion of the popular Rock Creek Trail. Finishing the Rock Creek Trail and planning more Hillsboro paths could help you take your kids to school, enjoy your bike commute, or get out for that great, long-distance weekend ride. The second Trail System Master Plan open house is focused on routes- where you want to go and how you want to get there (hint: on a bike!).

What: Hillsboro Trails System Master Plan Open House
When: Wednesday, February 25, 6 – 8 p.m.
Where: Main Library, 2850 NE Brookwood Parkway, Hillsboro
Project website: http://www.ci.hillsboro.or.us/index.aspx?page=1393

Now is the time to suggest any routes or destinations for the project team to consider! Biking and walking in Hillsboro would be greatly improved by providing protected bikeways or a multi-use path parallel to the Tualatin Valley Highway– this is one of our Blueprint priorities and we want to see it prioritized in the trail plan.

At the last open house, the project team implored attendees to think big. They showed examples of world-class bicycle infrastructure from cities like Amsterdam and London. We hope Hillsboro follows their lead by constructing multi-use paths as an integral part of the transportation system and providing dedicated, separated spaces to bike and walk.
